Hey Anabasis People!
One of our main characters in our upcoming album who sings in the role of "The Father" just won first place in an International Top Vocal Talent Search! Finally someone recognizes what we've known since we heard the first note come out of his mouth! Congratulations Marcelo!!
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, untreated opioid use disorder (i.e. "addiction") during pregnancy can have devasting consequences for the unborn baby. Fluctuating levels of opioids in the mother may expose the fetus to repeated periods of withdrawal. Other direct physical risks include:
***Neonatal abstinence syndrome
***Stunted Growth
***Preterm Labor
***Fetal Convulsions
***Fetal Death
We are The Anabasis - our goals are simple:
1. Raise awareness of the opioid epidemic, especially focused on how it impacts the lives of innocent babies and their mothers.
2. Raise funds to help local substance abuse disorder agencies achieve their mission.

As promised, here is the 2nd single from our debut album "Back From Being Gone" - This is track 3. "Carpe Diem" and it features Jeroen Hendrix on keys and orchestrations and my bud Lee Abraham (who also mixed the album ) played bass guitar on this one.
See if you can figure out which well-known group from the early 80's I was trying to channel with the open guitar riffs. 😉 It might be just a little bit obvious 😂

It's been a rough and tumble beginning to 2021 here in The Andrade house - I won't get into it because who wants to hear it? (put your hand down) 😃
We're all riding the same rocket, we're all eating the same food, breathing each other's recycled air, and we're all stuck with each other here until the end - what's worse, we've all been confined to our quarters (for the moment)…
BUT, as for myself, I'm pleased to say, I'm back from, um, being gone. (clears throat)
Right.
So, here's a view from my pod.
You may notice the words "The ANABASIS", "The Battle", "An Opioid Story" and just barely, through the LED or whatever-the-hell-it-is fog, "Blood Becomes Water"...
What this means, what you're seeing, what I'm trying to share with you in 10,000 words or less, which is very difficult for me-
just ask Steve Brockmann, or Marek Arnold, or PelleK, or Barry Thompson, or... 😀
I'm working on some final, last minute re-writes to characters and their songs, as well as taking care of some notes that I've collected since I've delivered the lyric book to Barry.
Once completed, we can *actively* begin - again - to cast the rock opera!
I know, about time, ammirite? 🙄
(we had put out a couple of feelers for a couple of roles in the dim, distant past but had gotten back a scheduling conflict - my anxiety tells me he probably didn't like it, someone who asked too much 💵 - we thought - for a performance in a 100% charity project, and a performance that was agreed by all to not be a good fit.)
